Calgary police are currently investigating two separate mysterious shootings incidents in northeast of the city that took place overnight on Saturday. Det. Steve Adair confirmed that no one was injured in either shootings, while also confirming that no one is in custody at this time.
According to Det. Adair, the first shooting incident was reported at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday from near the Whitehorn Community Centre. He explained that the male complainant was parked in a parking lot when several people jumped out of a dark-coloured SUV and started firing at his vehicle. Adair alleged that “when we arrived, members found several spent shell casings in the parking lot” adding that “there were four bullet holes in the complainant’s vehicle.” Adair alleged that the man failed to recognize either the vehicle or the shooters. Almost two hours after the first incident, police were reported about another shooting in the 6800 block of Temple Drive N.E.
In the second incident, a man and woman were sitting in a vehicle and a dark pickup truck drove up and started firing rounds at their vehicle. Adair stated that “attending units noted there were bullet holes to the vehicle. There appeared to be another (unoccupied) vehicle nearby that was also struck at the same time.” Adair alleged that complainants of the second shooting also failed to recognize the vehicle or people involved. He said that “both appear to be targeted but we are trying to determine a motive and come up with suspects.” Police are investigating both cases and identifying any possible links between the two cases.
