Ghost Workers Discovered In Budi County, Sudan

In efforts to eradicate corruption in the civil service, the Budi County authorities in Eastern Equatoria State have discovered 24 ghost employees in the payroll.

The revelations were made at a sitting last week at the Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly by SPLM’s Arungole Rino Loremo when he moved a motion titled: ‘Corruption in Budi County’.

The motion dominated the whole debate session after receiving endorsement through consensus from the August House following a secondment by Peter Lokuju Marcello.

Subsequently, a parliamentary committee of three members was immediately constituted to look into the matter.

It is headed by Hassan Urbano Alex from Lopa/Lafon County alongside Arungole and Peter Bosco Lotyang.

Armed with the October payroll, the three will work with the county cashiers to verify the salary remittances and come up with a report.

“We will undertake the verification per payam within ten days and come up with a report to present before the Assembly”, said a member, Lotyang.

Arungole lamented that the ghost names still appear in the state payroll despite the formation of a State Human Resource Review Committee that is charged with carrying out appropriate screening of the state’s existing manpower.

He said the SDG 8,000 that was recovered from the bogus civil servants was remitted to the State Finance Ministry.
