This emotional documentary tells the tale of 12 Auschwitz prisoners, mostly young women, who risked their lives in order to make a book in the shape of a heart, to give to Fania, a fellow prisoner, for her 20th birthday on December 12, 1944. Miraculously, Fania managed to get the little book out of Auschwitz – her sole personal possession. This remarkable story premiered at the 2011 Toronto Jewish Film Festival. (85 minutes, 2011, English and French) Guest speaker: Jacqueline Celemencki, 2013 Holocaust Education Week Educator-in-residence from the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre will be giving a special Q&A session after the film!
